Johnny and Janelle
SE Asia

Currently Johnny is working with an entrepreneurship school he helped to develop along with their teammates. The school seeks to alleviate poverty through business and job creation. Johnny's main focus is on developing sustainable ministry and church planting movements through entrepreneurship business development for self-supported national tentmakers.

Some prayer requests:

  • Movings is always stressful. Pray for new healthy routines and rest.
  • For our boldness and witness as we get to know our new neighbors (and their kids).
  • Praise that things are really going great at Opportunities NOW where Johnny is working and doing ministry. Exciting things are happening!
  • Health. Since the first of the year we've had pneumonia, bronchitis, the stomach flu twice, and a fever causing virus. We are ready for everyone to be healthy.

Jon and Jenny Gainer
Ukraine

Jon and Jenny Gainer are missionaries with Kontaktmission. In June of 2020 Jon was called to become the Director of Kontaktmission’s Eastern Europe Expansion. After serving as church planters in Kremenchug, Ukraine for nearly 11 years, it became clear to the Gainers that Eastern Europe is ripe for revival. It also became apparent that as the church grows in strength in Eastern Europe, there is great opportunity to train church planters to send out to Central Asia to many unreached people groups in closed nations.

Jon graduated from Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, IL and the Gainers attended First Christian Church in Mt. Pulaski during the years Jon attended LCU. The Gainers have 4 children; Alex - 16, Jonah -14, Isaac -13, and Lauren - 6. Jon and Jenny have been married since 2001 and are speakers/presenters for United Marriage Encounter Weekends. In their free time, Jon enjoys playing music while Jenny sings and bakes. All of the Gainer children attended Ukrainian schools and are now working back into American culture and education with homeschooling.

Along with planting two churches in Ukraine, Jon and Jenny’s ministry included evangelism, developing small groups, serving at the local orphanage, Baker’s Club, English Evangelism, leading worship, preaching, and premarital and marriage counseling. With this experience behind them they could see how the heart of the Ukrainian people is returning to a lost faith that was all but destroyed by the Atheistic Communist Government of the Soviet Union. There is still much to be done, but Ukraine and other Eastern European countries are more open to the Gospel than ever before. It is so exciting to have the privilege to be a part what God is doing in this emerging mission field.

Yuma and Sally
Mustard Seed (Japan)

Yuma and Sally Tarui are native Japanese, born and raised in Osaka. Yuma was baptized in 2012 despite having at one time rejected Christianity for philosophical reasons. Although she had not been interested in Christianity, Sally became a Christian in 2015 when she was moved by the love of God through her Christian friends. In a society that promotes people to pursue their own desire and freedom, Yuma and Sally have been discovering the beauty of being a slave of righteousness in God through their marriage, fellowship with church’s people, and relationship to society. They are eager to tell other Japanese people about the gospel to help them find true happiness. Other Japanese people have witnessed the truth through their godly marriage because it’s not unusual that for Japanese families to be dysfunctional and people have very low expectations for marriage. God has given Yuma a gift to proclaim the gospel boldly from the pulpit and to influence his listeners in every aspect of life with his philosophical mind. God has given Sally a gift to love children and allows her to work as the director of children’s ministry at Mustard Seed Christian Church Osaka.
