Important Updates

June 4, 2020

MPCC Members and Friends,

The day is approaching!  We are almost ready to offer in-person worship experiences again.  The leadership has been praying about this, researching, and processing through important details.

With all the recent changes, we do need a little more time.  Our biggest goals are to offer a safe environment and to stay online.

So, we are going to begin in-person gatherings next Sunday, June 14.

We are fully aware that some people will be very excited and will be here as soon as the doors open.  Others will likely not come back for a while.  We fully support both groups of people!  Things are going to look different for now.  We want to gather, and we also want to take the necessary precautions for a safe environment.

This will be a worship-only experience.  We will not be offering kid’s programming, Sunday school, or fellowship time.  However, entire families are welcome.  We would simply ask that parents keep their kids with them the whole time.

Also, the church office is open again, but will not be offering other programs/events in the building at this time.

More importantly for some:  We ARE staying ONLINE!  For those of you who would prefer this option, please take full advantage of it.  We will be streaming church at both 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Kid’s Church will stream at 9 a.m.

So, here is what the Sunday morning gatherings will look like:

8 a.m. traditional service in the Sanctuary

9 a.m. contemporary service in the Family Life Center

10 a.m. contemporary service in the Family Life Center

Each service will be no longer than 40 minutes each.

Doors will be held open 10 minutes before start of each service by greeters in masks.  Outside is a safer place to visit and gather, but please use caution.  Once you enter through the doors, we are asking that individuals or families stay 6 feet apart from other individuals or families.  (This may not sound pleasant for some, but please keep in mind that there are no other indoor gatherings of this size allowed in the state.)

Each service will end with communion and offering.  We will be strategically dismissing families and individuals to do this while practicing social distancing.  Please exit the building immediately afterwards.  (Again, if you really want to visit someone, studies show it is safer to do so outside.)

Safety Recommendations

1.  Please refrain from handshaking and hugging.  You may feel fine about it, but there are many who do not.

2.  We are going to do some prep work to keep family groups 6’ apart.  We will also need your help accomplishing this.

3.  We are asking everyone to wear a mask in the building.  We will have them available for those who do not bring one.

4.  If you’re sick or have a temperature, please worship with us online.

Lastly, please continue to be kind to one another.  There are many differing opinions.  Some are political.  Others are research-based.  While others are emotional.  The leadership agreed early on that we would follow the executive order.  Knowing for sure that we are not breaking any rules or laws now, we could make the decision solely on what we feel is best for our congregation.  In our location at the current time, we feel it is appropriate to gather.  If there is a large increase in COVID-19 cases in our area, we will consider making changes, possibly very quickly.  And, if we operate this way for a little while and things continue to progress, we will make changes in the other direction as well.

Thank you for you patience, prayers, and support.

Michael, Myron, Rob, Ryan, and Casey
